But often milk causes acid reflux during sleep. Eating a big meal at dinner is the main cause of acid reflux. So drinking milk after meals eventually encourage the secretion of more stomach acid, which is the main cause of acid reflux. To solve this problem it is better to have small meals and have a small snack such as crackers before sleep. Coming to next acid reflux diet myth, In order to reduce the acid reflux it is better to avoid coffee, citrus fruits and spicy foods. The above two changes helps in reducing the symptoms of acid reflux.

Coming to acid reflux diet, it is better to avoid high fat meals because they remain in the stomach for a longer period of time thus causing the need for more stomach acid in order to digest them. You should avoid taking alcohol. Maintain up-right position for at least 45 minutes after eating. Avoid beverages like beer, wine and pop which stimulates acid secretion. They could double your stomach acid within an hour.

Acid reflux symptoms-signs of gastro oesophageal disease

Gastro oesophageal disease, which is commonly called as acid reflux is cause by the damage of the mucosal lining of the oesophagus .The damage of the oesophageal lining is due to the excess acid that is secreted in the stomach and which flows back to the oesophagus. Oesophagus being located just behind the heart results in burning sensation of the heart, which is actually the first among the various acid reflux symptoms.

Acid reflux symptoms vary from person to person and all of them are mostly due to the increased acid levels in the stomach. Apart from burning sensation in the heart, nausea, vomiting, difficulties in swallowing and frequent digestive problems are included among the various acid reflux symptoms.

The moment one feels a discomfort in the heart and finds problem to digest things, it can be assumed that the stomach is secreting excess acid and therefore should be brought under control.
